It’s time to meet the second of our eight talented Future8 Award winners… taking home the trophy for the best Online Video, Fin Moorhouse!
We meet with Fin to find out what inspired his amazing winning entry, and what he is most looking forward to from his once-in-a-lifetime prize experience with Sony Music UK.
Finlay Moorhouse is 15 years old, lives in Bath and studies at King Edward’s School. He has always had a huge interest in film and animation, and started making films when he was 9 years old. The portfolio he entered is a culmination of years of experiments in different genres and lengths, including mountainside ski-chases, silent films, sci-fi, lots of VFX and superheroes! ‘Every Child’ was an alternate take on the theme of ‘superheroes’- inspired by the potency of a child’s imagination; it stars his nine year old sister, Anni.
We asked Fin, what inspired you to create your entry?
‘I entered a film about a young girl (my sister) who dresses up as a superhero and she walks to a hill… and then something quite surprising happens!
I found a film competition with the theme of superheroes and I thought maybe the super power could be the imagination. I thought maybe children have the most fertile imaginations and maybe adults don’t… so I juxtaposed those ideas’
Fin has won a day assisting on a Sony music video shoot with Sony Music’s Head of Video, Mike O’Keefe!
Here is what Fin is most looking forward to about his prize:
‘I’ve never made a music video before. I’ve always wanted to. It looks really fun! I’m looking forward to the prize because I get to work with a professional, someone who is well regarded… watching a master at work… and maybe helping out where and when I can.
I’m sure it will be really exciting and really fun, but I’m sure I’ll also take a lot a way from it – that’s what I’m looking forward to’
Fin’s video made for a well-deserved winning entry in the Online Video category. Check it out:
